This post shows how to install VMware UAG, step by step.

Before starting, check how to install and configure Horizon core components in VMware Horizon Installation – Step by Step and VMware Horizon 7 Configuration – Step by Step.

General Requirements

  1. Check the Unified Access Gateway System and Network Requirements.
  2. Configure all Firewall Rules for DMZ-Based Unified Access Gateway Appliances.

UAG Installation

  1. Download the OVF euc-unified-access-gateway-3.y.y.y-xxxxxxxx_OVF10 on my vmware.
  2. Create a Network Protocol Profile
    • Open the vSphere Web Client and go to Your Datacenter -> Configure – Network Protocol Profiles. Click on  icon.
    • Type the Name and select the DMZ portgroup by clicking on . Click Next.
    • Type Subnet, Subnet mask, Gateway, DNS server addresses and click Next.
    • Leave blank and click Next. (if you are using IPv6, you must complete these fields and leave blank IPv4 parameters).
    • Type DNS domain, Host prefix, DNS search path and click Next.
    • Review your settings and click Finish.
  3. Deploy the OVF Template that you downloaded in step 1.

  9. Select the datastore and disk format. Click Next.
  10. Even if you chose Single NIC, you must define three (3) networks. Use DMZ portgroup in each field and click Next.
  11. Type DNS servers, Gateway and Netmask.
  12. Type STATICV4 in IPMode and enter the NIC 1 (eth0) IPv4 address.
  13. Type UAG FQDN in Unified Gateway Appliance Name.
  14. Join VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program and type passwords for admin and root users. Click Next.
